Saddle
The Kabardian or Circassian saddle belongs to the type known as archaks. The term "archak" refers to the saddle frame or girth. Archaks were small saddles with a cushion attached to the seat. Even today, a light saddle is still referred to as an archak. The design of the saddle was influenced by military needs— the high saddle provided freedom of movement for the rider, while the low rear cantle did not hinder turning in the saddle and allowed for shooting while on horseback.
